I don't know about a long walk such as that, but when I was training for
10-mile races, the standard advice was that the week before the race was
used for "taper down", with the daily work-outs gradually decreasing in
intensity and then nothing significant for 2 days before the event. 2
weeks seems lot a long time to be doing nothing but a 30-minute morning
walk. Maybe whoever gave you the advice meant that you should start
tapering down now in order to eventually reduce it to that.
