I like doing deadlifts and had to figure this one out. What helped was
getting a belt. I know there are mixed views about it but it did help
me.
What I mean is to wear the belt so that you can tense your abs against
it. With the belt you can feel the tension, without it it's more
difficult. But once you get the hang of getting the tension right, it
might be good not to use it all the time.

but then what do I know

Another stoner story.

I had some friends who used to have this guy drop by everyday to get high.
If there wasn't any available, he would leave. If there was, he would smoke
a joint or two and leave. I understand that he had a regular route of folks
he did this to. His name was @##$%^&. But we will refer to him as the
freeloader.

As luck would have it, I had just been by the joke and novelty store. I
never knew that such things existed and bought a few things. Including
itching powder and a variety of cigarette loads. There was one particular
variety of ciggy bombs that was particularly powerful. It let off a bright
while, bluish light with a big bang.

So I pulled out this package of ciggy bombs and showed them to the assembled
crowd. They all laughed and immediate went to work assembling a big joint
bomb that included several of the ciggy bombs in this very large joint. We
then put it the drawer for the next time that the freeloader came over.

As luck would have it, he showed up in the next few minutes. We were getting
ready to go out. We had to turn the lights out because everbody in that
group was hanging on for dear life to keep from bursting out with laughter.
The freeloader seemed a little suspicious that we turned the lights out and
were not sharing the joint. We told him we were going to dinner with one of
the girl's mothers and did not want the smell on us. So he sat there on the
couch and smoked this exploding joint.

Then it blew up. It was deafening. I will never forget the stunned look on
the freeloaders fac. His eyes were big! And immediately after the big bang,
the room erupted in hysterical laughter. This whole thing from me pulling
it out of my pocket to blastoff had taken less than ten minutes. And it was
SO funny. Freelader wanted to know what happened. We told him while
laughing hysterically.

And the freeloader never came back after that again.

I guess he got the hint.

This is getting really ineresting. Who would have known this when I crawled
into my first legpressmachine about two years ago Wink While gooling the
Valsalva maneuver I ran across another piece of advice that might apply to
me. It saaid to start the accent by pushing up with your hands holding the
bar and raising your head a little bit. This was to counteract the weight
coming down and to keep the ass from rising first into some kind of modified
good morning. I think this is what happens to me and I by the time I notice
I'm already so far up I cannot quite stop it and have to force my way up
through this psition where my body is trying to jackknife itself Wink damn I
wish I had a suatrack here beside my computer Wink

OK I can see the benefit of that.

Makes sense. I don't ever want to get into using belts, unless I'm
competing, but I can see how it can show me what it will do so I can try to
copy it naturally.

I was the only person, at least the day I lifted, at the recent AAU meet
in Nevada who did not wear a belt and I will continue to lift this way.
If you're into the "natural belt" you make yourself with your abs and
your breath, I cannot recommend Pavel's materials highly enough. It is
a big part of what he teaches. I'd get "Power To The People!"
http://www.kbnj.com/ptp.htm, or "Naked Warrior"
http://www.kbnj.com/nw.htm or, even better, both. The first book talks
alot about the deadlift, while the second focuses on bodyweight work.

I got all kinds of reactions. Everything from paralysis to a paniced
evacuation. And everything in between. After everybody calmed down, the
laughter started. It was fun.

A comcept that killfiled Davey doesn't understand.

Ah. But you forget, I _like_ Lee. If you two are gonna have a fight I'll
just watch and pull off the winner before he can lay too much of a beatin'
on.

Well if he is your friend he is a notch less murky than he was 5 mins ago
(ok I'll go easy on him - a bloody nose, a loose tooth or two and that's it)
