Shit John. You've been watching powerlifting for decades and know damn
well that even before the use of a suit powerlifters only went to
parallel. Check out the great squatters prior to suits - Pacifco, Kaz,
etc. Why do you think the original Westside guys went off the box?

Even a narrow stance high bar squatter like Kuc barely broke parallel.
There was a reason.

Perhaps it's the way they train. You have to remember that I've been
injured forever and that one of the things I started to do to really
work my legs with less weight was to go ATG. I'm now to the point
that an ATG squat is easier than a legal PL squat. I had also moved
my stance in a bit as it is far easier on my knees to squat ATG with a
narrower stance.

Before Masters Nationals this year, I did exactly one rep in full
gear. The last time I had done that was in late July of last year. I
did have about a half dozen sets with a suit on. I also moved my
stance out, which felt awkward at first but I grew accustomed to it
quite quickly.

Did you see my last squat at 245? I got redlighted for depth so it
was no good but damn, it sure felt light. I had trouble figuring out
just what legal depth was again. That, and they were making us go
really deep, for the most part. I never figured my depth was going to
be a problem but I was worried about everything else. Go figure:

It looks like you just got to parallel in the video.

And it looks pretty easy! You look comfortable in that stance. I'd say
600 will be falling soon.

Yeah, I'd say that was likely.

Good answer. Full points.

I can't begin to tell you how that hurts. However, I acknowledge that
Pete is one of the good guys and I for one will not compete with him
for your affections.

I must now lavish all my fondness upon the bald aging one and hope we
can establish that wonderful rapport that you and I once enjoyed...
