I've heard that beginners are able to loose fat and gain muscle at the same
time. This usually lasts for 6 months or so. This is what I am hoping to
accomplish...

I have 18% body fat (can't see my abs, small love handles).. I'm 6' tall. I
work in an office environment and now I'm exercising regularly. My family
doctor said that I need 1800 calories for my type of work (typing). I've
been on a 1400 calorie diet for awhile... my goal is to gain some muscle (or
at least not loose a lot) and get rid of this belly all at the same time.

Last week I bought some whey protein and creatine. They are sitting on top
of my fridge, and I am confused.

Based on all this.. would someone be so nice as to give me some advice on
how many calories I need, grams of protein, carbs, fat, etc.???

Thanks

If the doc means 1800 calories per day total, it seems quite low. You
can determine this yourself by recording all your food intake at
www.fitday.com and noticing the trend in your weight at various
calorie levels over time. For those who are overfat, fitday has a
tendency to over estimate calorie needs, so you might want to choose
"bedridden" as your activity level when you sign up.
