Hi everyone.

I'm buying one as a gift but don't know much about them. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Yes and there is only ONE!!

The Fitty 3 electronic http://www.kasper-richter.de/eng/pedometers.htm
I have him for a few years and this one is SOO secure, some pedometers you
must keep it on your belt!
N need for the Fitty, you can keep him even in your backpack, its for
running to, you got to pull a switch, and he is in running mode. He counts
feet and meters/miles and kilometers!and offcourse steps! Very adjustable

I bought on of the new ones with the GPS system. You donlt need to calibrate it
and it tells you distance speed, average speed, times, etc. It works outdoors
only though.

I saw a a neat new one called Sport Brain. You can hook it up to your
computer and keep track of everything. Even had a pulse monitor built
in.

I think the website was www.sportbrain.com but I am not positive.

I would recommend the fit-pro 'scanner mark ll', available from Argos
for under 10 gbp.
6 functions trip & total distances walked or jogged, in miles or km,
calories burned, steps taken, speed in mph or kph & steps per minute.

I bought one last year that attached to the belt, and the clip broke off
after a couple of months. Is there one that attaches elsewhere or
differently that is easy to purchase in the USA? Thanks.

Wal-Mart <groan.. I try to stay away from this store>...but they had two or
three different types...one was a clip on... but the one I got cost about
$20...
it keeps track of the number of steps, calories, and a couple of other
things that I don't recall....it had a little string on it...I found it
worked just fine in my pocket. I recorded data for a number of days...and
you could go back to the day befor and see what you did...if you did
nothing, that's what was recorded for that day...e.g., if you skipped a day,
it registered 0 for that day and went on to the nex...you could go back two
days and compare the results....it was nice..also had a clock (and stop
watch iirc). Problem: I left accidently ran it through the washer.... that
killed it... and I haven't purchased another one yet.
