Post subject: quick questions on routine and diet
Archived from groups: misc>fitness>weights (more info?)

Two questions:

1) I have become accustomed to a six-day weightlifting cycle. Sure,
it's easy to do one group every Monday, another every Wednesday, etc.,
but since I get through my lifting and rest in 6 days instead of 7, I
figure I might as well stay at it - however, I was thinking about just
resting an extra day and going to a specific 7-day cycle. What are
your thoughts on this?

2) Sometimes I am in a hurry and don't have time to poach eggs (or
whites), and I am tempted to just down them out of a glass (a la
"Rocky") with a bowl of oatmeal or whatever. Is there any proof that
it's more difficult for the body to ingest the uncooked eggs vs.
cooked?

Thanks in advance -

- B

There is one study that showed a reduced digestibility(google this
group and you'll find it), but it had a few flaws. Well, not exactly
flaws, just that its applicability may be limited. First, they did
the study on ileostomy patients, so there's a chance that the egg
would have spent more time in the small intestine of healthy subjects.
Second, they didn't use whole eggs, but a mixture that had a ratio of
several whites to one yolk (maybe to limit dietary cholesterol). And
third, IIRC, they didn't have the egg mixture as part of a more
balanced meal containing other foods for carbs and fiber, so that
would presumably affect the transit time.

I decided that worrying about it just didn't matter. I can easily
down six raw eggs at a time, but trying to eat six cooked ones is no
fun at all. So even if the digestibility is only 80%, I still come
out ahead.

It's smart to reject the 7 day week and do what feels best for your body.

Also, it might give you some type of variety, for instance; it won't be your
upper body, for example that feels sore every Monday at the office, it would
rotate.
