Post subject: So you think you want to purchase a Keys Fitness treadmill ?
Archived from groups: misc>fitness>walking, others (more info?)

Spouse wanted a treadmill 3 years ago. After much shopping,
we found one nearest to our needs, a Keys Fitness Discovery
420 treadmill, total cost was over $1000, not a cheap one at
that time. No complaint when their office in Garland, TX
replaced defective parts after treadmill was delivered.

Published warranty states 10 years on motor. Our motor
became very noisy at 3 years old. Contacted service department.
After considerable communication, replacement motor was
shipped and received. It was noted that REPLACEMENT
MOTOR WAS NOT NEW.

HERE IS MY COMPLAINT:
Detailed warranty info is not abundantly available until you
purchase this product and get the owners manual. Fine print
in warranty states "Keys may replace defective parts, or at the
option of Keys, serviceable used parts".

PLEASE GIVE CAREFUL CONSIDERATION TO WARRANTY INFO
BEFORE PURCHASING ANY TREADMILL.

The warranty info is right there on their website (as is the whole owners
manual). http://www.keysfitness.com/docs/man/treadmills/man-dcv420.pdf

How many products are you aware of, that companies furnish
"USED" replacement parts under warranty, for failed parts?

This is the first instance, in my lifetime, of such a case, and
yes, I am a victim of assuming that warranties involve replacing
failed parts with new parts.
