Not really. In normal medium to long term weight loss you will
typically lose about equal amounts of fat and muscle. The faster the
weight loss the higher the percentage lost will be muscle. This is
because it is easier for the body to metabolize protein and when in
starvation mode the body will try to horde fat, muscle being an
unnecessary calorie burning luxury detrminental to long term low
calorie survival.
So in the above example even a best case fat loss would be a pound and
a half and this is far from the best case scenario. That, and a 10,500
calorie defecit is pretty hard to achieve in one week. Assuming a
baseline of 2000 calories a day and no food it would entail running
about 10 miles a day. Try that for 7 days straight on no food and if
you survive will be in no shape for fighting or even sitting up.
It is much easier to lose the weight through water loss. By cutting
out all carbs for 2 days you can easily lose the first four or five
pounds and then lose the rest by natural perspiration and metabolism.
By not eating or drinking I lose about half a pound an hour (although
at you weight it will probably be closer to 1/3 pound an hour). If you
are still heavy at this point sweat and spit out the rest with a sauna,
rubber suit, etc.
After making weight put the weight back on by taking in water and
liquid carbs (gatorade, etc) first before eating any food and then
eating solid carbs first.
By using this method you will not need to cut your calorie intake much
and will not be burned out before the fight while maintaining your
muscle mass. You may have a slight dehydration "hangover" though but
this should not be severe with only a 9 pound weight loss.
