I'm a naturally skinny guy but i have these huge love handles.

This gives me a sort of )( appearence. I have a pretty developed
chest and pretty developed shoulders so this really gives me an
unporportional look in that area.

I tried doing oblique exercises, which seemed to give me a burn in that
side abdomen area, but i'm told this also builds my love handles.

Should i just stick to Crunches and their derivatives? I mean, building
ab defintion is not my first goal, but building my abdomen OUT (like
the sides) to make by body look more proportional is. I really need
some help on this.

thanks.

I'm confused. Do you want more mass along your sides, or not? If you
do, then you can work your obliques. I'd recommend weighted side
bends: http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/Obliques/DBSideBend.html

As you build muscle along your obliques, you will also push out the
fat that makes up your love handles. The only way to get rid of that
is to lower your body fat (even if you're a "naturally skinny guy").

HTH.

Yeah, but that little pink dumbell he's got in the video isn't going
to build any mass.

To build mass, you have to use the pastel purple dumbells.

How can you tell what color that dumbbell is? It's showing up in
black and white for me. Is there something wrong with my monitor?

Another thought ... would it help your proportions if you were to
develop your lats?

You need the exrx colorizer plug-in.

To be perfectly frank Lee, I don't think that is very good advice to
give the OP. I did think that you had a greater depth of knowledge
than that you are indicating!!

[I didn't mean to infer that you are "perfectly Frank", as I am aware
that you are 'perfectly Lee'!]

Assuming your love handles are fat..

Google "spot reduction". You need to lose weight generally. Any exercise
helps but more importantly also look at your diet.

I remember at college when my love handles first appeared. Freaked me out
and I spent hours doing side bends !!! Waste of time (not entirely), you
need to lose weight.

As you are naturally skinny, look to see if something/habits in your
lifestyle has changed your eating habits. (eg getting a sit down job,
drinking more alcohol, being a bit more sedentary, chocolate addiction, a
girlfriend etc)

It may be easier to approach it that way? Dont give up the girlfriend
though, just eat out less Smile

"huge" love handles can only be addressed with diet or liposuction. No type
of training will offset this problem effectively. Losing the flab is
you're only realistic option - like it or not.

Should that be a reply to the OP? Not sure how its relevant to my post
but as its here ...

Training that contributes to a consistent calorie deficit over a period
of time *will* address the problem. But I agree Its just easier to
adjust diet in the long term - or go for the chop in the short term!

Easier still, if they have "suddenly" appeared on a "skinny guy" chances
are a bit of "root cause analysis" re any habitual changes to lifestyle,
diet etc, will help with the subsequent approach.

Get liposuction to remove the fat; that's the only way.

.... says the plastic surgeon.

Personally, I think swimming has been having some good effects.

So has running.

And eating less.

Try it and find out!
