I just lost around 10 pounds of fat bringing me down to 200 lbs. at 10%
bodyfat. My goal is to lose another 10 lbs. to get down to 5% bodyfat.
I lost this amount of fat by eating only 1500 calories per day max and
did not lose any size or strength in the process. At the rate that I'm
going, losing another 10 pounds of fat will take me 10 more weeks. Is
there any way I can increase the amount of fat I lose to maybe 2 pounds
per week? I would have normally thought that 1500 was too low but
since I didn't lose any muscle I assume that it's not slowing my
metabolism. (I could be wrong) I'm not taking any clen or
thermogenics either. Thanks for any help.

First of all, when you lose weight, it's not 100% fat that you lose. You
have lost LBM along with the fat. It's impossible not to.
Secondly, shooting for more that 1 lb per week (and if you're really at 10%
BF, even 1 lb per week), will insure that you lose a larger % of LBM that
you would if you dropped weight slower.

I'd stick to the 1500 calories or so and
(a) work out more than you are now
--do you run? Try adding some miles to your workouts
(b) Maybe try caloric cycling. I added some small "cheats" to my diet
once a week. Ny diet was essentially the same as yours except
(c) Do you use something like www.fitday.com ? Try it out if you are not
and make sure you are eating a nutritionally balanced diet.
That should help raise the level of weight loss up from 1 pound. >> Stay informed about: losing more than 1lb. of fat per week |

If you're 10% BF at 200, you must be HUGE. I'm talking lots of muscle? Do
you really want to reduce your calories to 1500, because you'll lose a lot
of muscle that way....? >> Stay informed about: losing more than 1lb. of fat per week |

I'm 200lbs. 6'1, so I'm not really huge. I have abs but just want to
lose another 10 pounds to get really "bodybuilder" type ripped. Maybe
I'll rethink my goals if I start to lose any size. So far I have been
using the same weight for the same amount of reps on all my lifts as I
did before I started dieting at 15% bodyfat so I don't think I lost any
muscle. Maybe I'll stick with losing 1/2 to 1lb. per week and "suffer"
for another 2 months! >> Stay informed about: losing more than 1lb. of fat per week |

Calories in a pound of fat are about 3500. Assuming your set point to
neither lose nor gain is to eat 2000 cal per day, your 1500 means you
are down 500 per day. 500 x 7 days = 3500. Works out nicely. So if
you want to double your weight loss speed you would need to cut down
to 1000 cal per day OR do enough extra to burn 500 cal more per day
then you have been. I suspect that the first option would be much
more feasible.

With your numbers, you really are in good shape and why would you want to
lose for losings sake? I'd work our frequently, is this a possibility? 2 a
days? GVT would probably cost you too much mass with that caloric intake.
Using a 5x5 may help. Look, at 200 with 10% BF, take it slow. Don't lose
what you have. any rapid loss will most likely get you a huge amount of
body fat loss, but would occur with a greater amount of lean tissue mass,
making you "fatter". >> Stay informed about: losing more than 1lb. of fat per week |

Going from 10% to 5% fat is extremely difficult and even
pro bodybuilders often struggle with this in their pre-contest
preparation. Why are you trying to go so low? Are you preparing
for a bodybuilding contest?

Try measuring both ways. There's surprisingly little difference
between flexed and unflexed.
