Hello,
We're used to shopping at the inexpensive retail stores, like Walmart,
target, etc. Is there a good sandal/flip flop/slipper that someone can
recommend that helped you with heel & arch pain in the foot?

Also, do you have a recommendation for regular (inexpensive) walking
shoe with
good support?

THANKS!

There are no good cheap ones. If you want that sort of thing, get
something in the range of the Dr. Scholls and get them somewhere other
than WalMart or Payless.

A very good thing for arch pain is exercise. Start gently but do it
every day or two for a long time. Months.

Barefoot: Rise onto your toes, holding on to something like a counter
if necessary for balance. Hold. Slowly lower heels to floor. Do it
about 5 to 10 times the first day. When that's easy (which should be
almost at once), start putting something under your toes. Something
as thick as your ordinary magazine (if you're using something
slippery, like a magazine, be sure to have something sturdy in reach
in case they slide out from under you). Repeat until that's easy.
Keep increasing the size of what's under your toes BY GRADUAL DEGREES.
Don't go over 1 inch high. I've always found 1/2 inch to be more than
enough for me. Make sure you hold at the highest you rise on your toes
for at least a few seconds. Lower your heels slowly all the way to
the floor. This will not only strengthen your arches, but your ankles
and your calves.

If you overdo this one, you'll pay in leg pain and maybe cramps. But
5 to 10 repetitions or even 10 to 20 repetitions a day should be fine
to start.

Sorry, no recommendation on walking shoes, inexpensive or other.

Try the LL Bean Coastal Clog. http://shorterlink.co.uk/6257 It's a less
expensive version of a croc and a friend who wears both slightly prefers
them. (And the sole has a map of ther coastline of Maine)

As for inexpensive walking shoes, they are a waste of money. Find a store
like "Big 5" and buy last seasons brand names.

My 1000 mile plus $50.00 New Balance shoes show about the same wear as my
$80.00 Nike's and the last pair of cheap shoes I bought (Converse) lasted
less than six weeks.

Make sure you buy walking shoes. I switched from NB running shoes to walking
and my shin splints went away.
