Nuthin'. Just chilling here in Ohio with my best bud Williams. Yeah, we
made up and he and his wife invited me over for dinner and drinks. I
think Charles and his brood are landing at the airport soon and me and
John are going to pick them up to join the festivities. One big happy,
right? Shute called and said he's picking Cohen up on his way over.
It's going to be a blast. When're you showing up, man? We're all
waiting. You've got the address, right? It's the big white house on the
corner with the green shutters. There's a black Harley parked out
front. Can't miss it. D
> you readin' anything interesting?
I'm finishing James Rollins' _Excavation_ and am heading over to the
local Barnes and Noble with a latte coupon and, hopefully, to pick up
_Sandstorm_, also by Rollins. I'm also reading _Mindhunter: Inside the
FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit_
<http://www.amazon.com/Mindhunter-Inside-Elite-Serial-Crime/dp/0671528904>
which I picked up at the local community college bookstore. And, yeah,
the aforementioned Dick Tyler book and the one about the Bros. Weider,
Joe and Ben, of course.
What else? Oh, a BOX of Muscular Development magazines contributed by
MFW's own Om. That's sixteen mags at a penny shy of seven-dollar cover
price which makes for a nearly $112 value for the cost of a stamp.
What a guy! Seriously, thank you, Om. You truly ARE the man.
> i'm catching up on some chomsky and zinn
I have Noam Chomsky's <http://www.chomsky.info/> _The Prosperous Few
and the Restless Many_ in a box somewhere, but am unfamiliar with Zinn.
Purchased and also currently reading, Beverly Tatum's _"Why Are All the
Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria?"_, Jawanz Kunjufu's
_Black Students. Middle Class Teachers._, and Robert MacKenzie's
revised _Setting Limits in the Classroom_.
Plus, yeah, Daredevil, Moonknight, Superman, Strangers in Paradise, 100
Bullets, and a few other comic books bought recently.
I rarely read one book at a time. It's like flipping channels, me and
reading.
> <snip> birth to our beautiful baby girl on election day.
Now THAT is wonderful news. Congratulations, my friend.
Congratulations! And happy "birth" day to the lovely newborn.
[...]
In totally unrelated news, I recently clicked "send" and cross-posted
to rec.arts.bodyart. This was unintentional and resulted in great part
because that son of a... cross-posted and has, yeah, opened the door
again for new... contributors(?) to MFW. Nice one, John. Glad you care
about this ng.
Anyway, don't you hate it when you send something somewhere you hadn't
actually intended it to be sent? ;o)
Rhetorical. But, yes, btdt.

i'm slowly going through all my old mags that i've read and re-read and
re-re-read to death. there are a few in there that are mildewed and
have to go, but i'm sure i'll have a big stack of mags that i have
nothing to do with once i'm done.
i made the mistake of taking in an old collection of muscle and fitness
to the local half price books a few years ago. they offered me $.75
for the whole lot. i was so angry that i just took them home and threw
them away. oh well! bodybuilders can be impulsive, you know.
i could be mistaken, but i'm pretty sure i still have a bunch of odd
magazines lying around...old md, ironman, mm2000. i'll let you know
when i get them organized, and you can let me know if you want to ad
them to your collection!
howard zinn wrote "the people's history of the united states
1492-present" which is pretty popular in the closeted socialist
movement. personally, i don't care for his writing, but i love his
books that are interviews such as...lemme see here...(i haven't had
much luck with posting long urls from amazon, so i'll just give you
names of the two i just finished):
original zinn: conversations on history and politics
terrorism and war
both worth reading, as is imperial ambitions (chomsky).
with being in and out of the hospital since tuesday, i got a chance to
go in and get a workout yesterday afternoon. two sets of negative-only
dips, one set of strive curls super-slow style, back on some hammer
selectorized row machine, and farmer's walk. good stuff. i'm really
really sore. especially in my chest.
lemme know how the whole thing with john and cohen and hudson and

The same thing (about) happened to me at a place called The Clay
Bookstore. This tiny guy with incredibly bad hair and a pair of
suspenders offered me three bucks for a box of magazines and books
which included, if I'm not mistaken, an autographed copy of Mentzer's
original Heavy Duty. My aunt, an LPN, got it autographed when Mentzer's
mother was in the Ephrata Community Hospital. Yeah, I went insane just
before I left for the Navy and gave all my schtufff away.
Unlike you, I didn't throw them away, but took the three bucks and
walked out of the store. Bodybuilders (yeah, even the really skinny
ones) can be impulsive.

Excellent. And even MORE excellent on the birth! Again,
congratulations.

Smashingly, so far. Cohen is singing, Hudson and Williams are playing
the piano (one of those four hands required songs), and Mrs. JMW is
telling us lovely anecdotes about her hubby's wonderful off-line
activities. The cats are all very cute. Well, I must go. They're
serving pear juice and I don't want to miss that.

You're welcome, naturally.
And I left Shute out. He drank a leetle too much and is currently
passed out on John Williams' couch, covered nicely in cats and sugar
packets. Williams, once you get past his rough exterior, has a
lighthearted and playful sense of humor.

Thank you, but I'll take a rain check on that offer, Om. I'm a proud
veteran and always glad to share the tale that my first ribbon on my
Navy uniform was for marksman with a .45, but I'm not really a gun
person. Although I do have a book here by Tanya K. Metaksa. The
copyright is 1997 and back then she was the executive director of the
NRA's Institute for Legislative Action. The book's title is _Safe, not
Sorry: Keeping Yourself and Your Family Safe in a Violent Age_.
Eventually, I may buy a handgun, but it's not on my list of critical
purchases.

Sweet. I do love me some science fiction. Rollins is my current kick.
His stuff is adventure with some romance thrown in, but always
including some reference or use of caving and diving, both hobbies of
the author. http://www.jamesrollins.com/

I'm glad that you are enjoying them! Thanks for the 20 bucks and the
artwork.
I'm prepping for a fancy dinner tomorrow night for a good friend and his
wife. Pics to follow later...
I normally just drop those mags at the gym in the locker room. I was
pleased to be able to send them to you.
Please let me know if you want me to save the NRA magazines? Our new
break room at work has been completed so I usually leave them there.

That was silly to waste them! The people at the gym are always
appreciative. So is your local library...
Last time I did a MAJOR BB magazine dump, I took them there.
Had a variety back then, now I only sub to MD.
