Yes Om. I wasn't disputing you, but offering a parallel line of
thought related to a disease that disfigures or reconfigures a
person's bone structure.

Thanks, Om. But, again, I wasn't disputing your comments.

Sweet dreams, Mr. 21. It feels like inebriation to me when I've been
up that length of time.

It's normal for me on a Saturday unless I indulge in an extra dose of
Amphetamines. Wink

But I don't like them so I don't abuse them.

Forcing myself to stay up late on Saturday allows me to spend at least a
semi-normal day with family on Sunday.

I have to cook. <G>

I knew a nurse who was addicted to something or other. Access equals
opportunity, I guess.

What was the name of that disease? Paget's!

http://www.arthritis.ca/types%20of%20arthritis/pagets/default.asp?s=1
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paget%27s_disease_of_bone

I may have mentioned this in an earlier post to MFW, but when I was a
pill jockey for GNC a lovely little old lady entered the store. While
she was checking out with her items, I timidly asked her about her
arms. Was afraid I'd offend her, but couldn't resist asking just what
had happened to her. Om, you say, "like something out of a horror
film," well the woman was not scarred or scaled or whatever you might
imagine a horror film would display, but her arms were like - at least
from their shape - slim and twisted tree limbs. It was incredible.

She explained that her bones had softened and then become hard again,
only in a much different shape than prior to the softening. It wasn't
especially ugly, but it was certainly very unusual. She might have
been a little over 5 feet tall and thin. Pleasant looking older woman,
but her arms were simply amazing. Not a horror film, but more like
what might have been an episode of Star Trek.

I remember roasted carrots as a kid back on the farm. Mmmmm mm! And
definitely corn on the cob. Mint tea. Good memories.

Necessity? I've already given you the "Mr. Smith" alternative,
Om. ;o)

Maaaaan. Strut? Don't make me YouTube posing presentations by Vince
Taylor, Kai Green, Lenda Murray, et al., Om. It's art!

The hell if I know what a Piaget watch is, but it's better than a
plastic trophy. And Humvees have been given out at the Arnold Classic,
iirc. Oh, and thousands of dollars in prizes, too.

Bodybuilding can be "work." Have you seen what some of those men and
women endure?

Can't argue with that, however.

Ouch.

Note to self: Do not call Om a hypocrite.

But bodybuilding, imo, is not simply vanity. It's an art, but it also
can be defined as sport. Subjective as it is, there's definitely
competition going on. Training and dieting isn't displayed to the
audience, however the impact of both of those components of
bodybuilding is apparent on stage.

The Rx for Amphetamines has nothing to do with physique enhancement.
I work night shifts and have to commute, and have a tendency to doze off
on the freeway. My Dr. chose to intervene.

I did not ask for them.

Necessity is not the same as voluntary.

It is not "necessary" to take drugs to strut around on stage for a
plastic trophy. One has to work to make a living...

I don't mean to denigrate body building. Far from it. I just question
the lengths people are going to, and taking serious risks.

I guess it is ironic if you have no choice but to make a living by
participating in beauty pageants instead of getting a real job...
<shrugs>

Whatever works for you and all that.

I lift weights for health reasons, not vanity.

I can imagine. Calcium is an electrolyte, but I understand potassium
imbalances can cause cramps too.

I'm just glad that you are better.
