I've never met him but I think, given that he can do a one-armed pullup,
the answer has to be muscle.

I'm sure the rest of us are wondering: What do you do?

That jumped out at me too. With just the information given from the OP
I'd be 99% inclined to call bullshit but he could be exception. 25% BF
seems pretty soft to be doing that well. I'm thinking it is like doing
30 pulls at 12% BF with 25lbs. That would be hella good for me.

BTW, I have added some weighted pulls to my back day. I don't know if
I'll match or exceed my previous efforts from back in the previous MFW
challenge (BW + 100). In fact, I don't really care but I'm actually
quite surprised at how well it is coming back. Just looking at the
early posts from Steve et al I know I won't come close to besting them
but it has given me some motivation to train PUs again. Of course I'm
still pushing 50, not pulling it like you, John. Razz

I'm still seven months short of 50. Unless, of course, you believe
Hudson, but everyone knows how much he lies.

Ah, I couldn't quite remember. You're still six months older than me.

The iron in my blood is not high on my list of concerns.

You are no Novice if you can do 30 pulls. BTW, one arm pulls are just
that, the other arm does nothing but maybe help with balance. One
handed chins are no big deal, one armed chins/pulls are!

I've actually found this too. It seems counter intuitive but I seem to
have been leaner when I did moderate amounts of cardio and heavy
weights/low reps than more cardio and more reps. Most of my training is
in the 3-6 rep range.

I have never been able to make much progress of any kind unless I do at
least some heavy weight/low rep training. All that happens when I train
with lower weights is that I get weaker and my reps do not increase.

Besides, I just love the feeling of pushing/pulling like hell on
something that feels heavy from the first rep. It's part of my own
reward for training.

Taking the piss out of you on a regular basis, and deflating your
bloated ego because it is a blot on the landscape, can hardly be
described as "lying" John Williams.

Now watch my lips lad, and listen attentively:

Hudson is not telling "lies", he is taking the piss out of dull boring
egocentric John Williams, and has been so doing for many years.

I do hope that helps!

Ugh! It's Monday! ;o(

Heh heh... d'oh. Silly me, most of those should read 3 sets of 3
different exercises - so typically I do 9 real sets for any body part.
Sorry about that, I was actually doing something else when I posted
that.

I'd prefer just to leave it as important and strenuous work - I
apologize in advance for how this might sound, but it isn't really
relevant to the discussion.

Correct, your job is not relevant. What's relevant is that you're 25%
bodyfat, which means that you've been eating far more than you need to,
and can easily cut back quite a bit without affecting your job
performance.
