According to the CDC you are, too. Given the choice between taking the word
of an etiquette-challenged stranger on the internet or a medical authority
that boasts at least of couple of degrees on staff, I'm pretty clear the
direction I'm going.

Sarah, your BMI is 24, normal range; certainly not a tub of lard.

Do your fat, chubby, fingers prevent you from deleting MFW from the
crossposting? Or is masochism a necessary companion to lack of self-esteem?

If it is any consolation to you David, I don't think of you as an
etiquette-challenged stranger.

I think of you as a shrill, gun-crazed, voice of reason from the desert.

I fear I shall disappoint you, but I'm pretty good at not taking offense.
The opinions of an etiquette-challenged stranger are meaningless to me.

One might wonder about the self-esteem of somebody who takes pot-shots at
strangers, though. If one cared.

Cut out the carbs, decrease the weight training increase the cardio, and
stop looking at the scale!

Last but not least honey - measure yourself!
Keep track using a diary

That's actually the best advice so far.

Measure what? Pant size or actual bodyfat? The former is of little use
compared to the latter.

Over simple advice ("cut the carbs") often creates as many problems as
being over complicated, not to mention cross posts to those groups + mfw
is a flame war waiting to happen...

_You_ might. _I_ may not, depending on build and muscle mass. Hence
my use of 'might' and 'likely'.

For such a diminutive person (very short and fine boned), female,
-and- newbie to WT, 100# just does not seem like much of a stretch to
me.

The female friends and acquaintances I have that are in that range of
height/weight (or close) generally look great. They don't seem to be
bony-looking, anorexic, or unhealthy by any means.

At under 100lbs at 5'1" there wont be any muscle mass. Duh.

They would generally look skinny as hell. Yes I know many people have

Then like most people, your perceptions are warped.

Err, no. Think about what you just said and get back to us. What weighs
more, a lb of lead or a lb of feathers?

Congratulations, Sarah, on your progress (seriously--that's a
*terrific* accomplishment), but...

> Go back under the rock you came from.
[snip]

What's "right" for you, or anybody else, may not be right, or may be
down-right *wrong*, for another. I imagine David's comments, direct
tho they may be, are meant to reflect that.

Btw: Your BMI is 23.4. The CDC says "18.5 to 24.9" is "Normal." So
you may be "fine," in your eyes, and that's... fine Smile, but you're
just under the high end of "Normal," as opposed to being just over
the low end. Some of us strive for "more fine." I'm 6'4" and 195
lbs. atm. According to the CDC's BMI calculator, that's a BMI of
23.7 - close to your's. While I get complements on how much better I
look from friends and acquaintances, I still have a bit of a belly,
the love-handles are just starting to shrink, and my muscle
definition is just starting to show well. So, by my lights, I'm not
"fine" yet.

Please also note that MFW regulars probably *generally* have somewhat
different goals than ASDWM regulars. The differences in the comments
from those in each newsgroup will undoubtedly reflect that.

Oh, and, IIRC, MFW regulars generally feel BMI is a worthless
measure.

Again: Congratulations on your accomplishment. It must feel good. I
know what I've accomplished so far does Smile.

I can't resist this one!!!

A lb of lead or a lb of feathers, weigh exactly the same! They are both a
lb no matter what. Now, if you want the volume per square inch, then there
is a difference, but a pound weighs the same whether in sand, bricks, lead
or feathers!
