Dish soap you'd use in the kitchen. It does make a lot of suds, and
that's part of the reason to do a regular wash afterwards, but it does
kill the smell pretty effectively. I usually put the dish soap into the
bottom of the washing machine, put in the clothes, then leave the lid
open after it fills so that it gets to soak a little while first. You
do have to be careful not to use too much, though.

Tide with bleach. Gets the musty stank out.

I would use Dishsoap, like Ajax.

I've used it to pre-treat for spot cleaning for grease spots, rubbed it
in well and let it sit for a bit prior to washing.

Should not over-sudse your machine if you don't over-do it!

A little goes a long way as it's very concentrated.

The important thing is that it's the anti-bacterial kind - that's what
kills the stink in the clothes.

Cleaner designed for nappies. Next question.

Thanks to everyone that responded. I went with a comination of ideas. I
did a wash with some oxiclean and anti-bacterial dish soap. Then I
washed teh same load again with my regular detergent. Works perfectly. I
figure the second wash is necessary to get rid of any previously
undissolved oxiclean powder and any extra suds from the dish soap.

My washer has an extra rinse mode. I don't use it because it's not an
issue.

I use Tide with Bleach... Calgon water softner... Oxy Stain Remover...
Borax... and Arm & Hammer washing soda.

Good combo to get things clean.
