Stunning bikes.

If Santa went insane, I'd love to have one of each brand, make, model,
what have you, and a warehouse or two to store them in. Plus a crew of
mechanics on staff because, sadly, I'm no wrench.
On a more sane Santa note, I'm thinking saddlebags for the Sportster.

Ha!
There are airbags, however.

But, yes, you're right. Not much protection from a car or truck
smashing your leg between your bike and its grill.

Small thing. Just annoying, because it slows me down on fixing the
most important part of the lift. I can't improve without improving
my weakest link, which is injured now. Still, no biggie.

First bike which broke 200 mph barrier was "my" gixxer. Also
turbocharged. Compared to Harley it might look like a high tech, but
in reality it's just an old bike, however I'll never sell it all the
same.

If you took a look at the backs of both guys, their comparable numbers
wouldn't look like such an absurd. Small guy has big traps and spinal
erectors, big guy has none of it. Well, not much, that's for sure.

I do tend to trust him on this too. It's just that I don't know if
what he says is true or not. Could be true, or it could be that he
took a cycle or two in his life and "forgot" to mention it. He's dutch

kind of person he is (which I don't know, because I don't follow his
writings to any extent) he might stretch the truth a bit too.

Together with my bro we have 5 bikes, two of which are Urals. We
managed to sell one bike this weekend, so there will be a bit less
redundancy.

It's hard to fit big gut on a sport bike. Tank gets in the way.

Sport is about higher speed. If you never use advantages of suspension
and higher power of an engine, they become disadvantages. I'm not crazy
about sportish stuff on public roads too. My bike looks sporty, but in
reality it's not a sport bike. Well, at least not in Europe.

I like the UJM. I drive an old 81 GS1000, which I like just fine. All
I'd really like from the newer bikes is the brakes.
OTOH - I could go for a KTM 990 Adventure, for the motor and suspension.
Or even the new Kwak Versys.

Mine is a dual sport bike. Does that count?

What are the remaining bikes? I know the Suzuki, Andrzej, but what are
your other ones?
My first bike was a '75 Honda CB550 which I purchased for $500
(insurance only $50 per year), my second was a brand new '98 XLH883, my
next bike was an '86 CB650SC, another Honda but a Nighthawk, and my
current bike is another XLH993 Sportster. This one's a 2001 model that
I bought from a friend. It has about 20K miles on it now. I put 10K on
my first Harley in a year's time.

Similar story. Girl half my age, and had the hots for my *motorcycle*.

Ouch.
There was water at our destination, but I'm happy to say that we did
not dump the bike into it. )

So, DZ, the ride into the river put you off motorcycles for good? S

Yes, it seems so. Excellent! Thanks for listing the bikes. They'll make
interesting Google topics. Although I'm not a wrench, I'm always
interesting in taking a look at bikes.

They're light and fast and the Sporty has the greatest lean angle of
all the Harleys, however I am not a knee dragger. No.
> Is your 993 overbored or is it some model I'm not aware of?
Well, the "another" attached to the XLH993 above should've been a clue
that it was a typo, however I must confess that, yeah, it is a typo! (I
am chagrined.)
Although they did have 1000cc Sporties and I could easily have the 883
punched to 1200, but I'm content with the power the bike has stock.
Regardless, there's no 993 except in my post. )

Iirc, I believe the Andrzej response would be "What?" But I may be
misattributing that. Certainly, i LOVE my Sportster.

But it took HD how long to add FI?
And no matter, most of them are still clumsy. After riding a sport/dual
sport bike after a cruiser, I'll never go back. Only a few of the new
'hybrids' (or the old 'naked' "Sportster) are appealing any longer (to
me). If it's speed you're after, the cruisers won't cut it. Too much
