Guys, I've driven to every fitness store within 100 miles that I can
find, with no luck. I'm looking for 2 things:
1. I have a Weider Club 565 home gym, that came with 300lbs in
weights. I need to buy at least another 90lbs in weights (preferably
another 300lbs), but I'm picky and want them to match. The problem is,
I can't find a Weider dealer, and the Weider website is no help at
all.
Any idea who might carry Weider? I'm in western North Carolina (United
States). The ICON site claimed that Dick's Sporting Goods and The
Sports Authority both carry Weider, but I've been to both and if
that's true then the salesmen didn't know it.
2. Doing preacher curls has become a real problem with this gym. I'm
using the EZ curl bar, and curling 95lbs, 3 sets of 10. The problem,
though, is that there isn't a rest for the bar, so to get started I
have to lift the bar while standing, then move into position. Between
sets, I have to muscle the bar down to my waist so it can rest on my
thighs, just to muscle it back up for the next set. When I'm all done,
and I've lifted as much as I can, I still have to make one last rep,
hold the bar to my chest, then stand up and walk over to somewhere
that I can sit the bar down. That's too much!
I could probably increase the weight substantially if it wasn't for
the inconvenience of worrying about that last rep.
In order to correct this, I'm looking for either a rest for the EZ
curl bar, or failing that, an EZ curl bar that will attach to the
cable. I tried using the lat bar, but it turns my wrists awkwardly and
I ended up with some unexpected forearm pain.
TIA,

Another tip;
Ask them if they have what you are looking for, AND if its in stock.

For the love of [insert whatever 'here']
Seriously, I like my weights to match side to side, but I wouldn't
care if I had two Weider (W) plates and then two York (Y) plates on a
bar. Again, it'd have to be side to side symmetry - WY---bar---YW and
none of that dastardly WW---bar---YY nonsense.
I guess everyone has a personal quirk or pet peeve, right? Personally,
I'd give up this insane quest! SAVE YOURSELF, J! SAVE YOURSELF!
(I wouldn't be surprised to find there's a 12-step program that covers
this particular addiction.)

You're working out in a gym. Are you ALONE?

I found a classified website that focuses on fitness equipment. It has used as well as new equipment, so I think there are good deals to be had and you are pretty likely to find your Weider home gym and a rest for your preacher bar. You might be able to sell some of the equipment you are not using also to help pay for the equipment you want.
