Post subject: What equipm't do I need for toning and cardio?

Hi, my husband and I have made a workout room in our basement. I currently workout using Denise Austin "Hit the spot" tapes (I know "tapes?", bought them a long time ago, but they have really worked for me all these years!). The workouts include abs, arms/chest using dumb bells, legs, butt....

Now I would like to do more. I want to increase definition, I am pretty much tone now, but am getting older and need more. I should really work cardio more, I seem to get out of breath too easy and I don't smoke.

Any suggestions on what I should buy as my first piece of equipment?

I was looking at treadmills (I don't want to run, just walk), elliptical machines, Boflex total gym.... I really don't know where to start. Should I stick with weights to increase muscle and would that help with cardio?

I am very confused with all the different equipment that is out there.

Any help is appreciated.

Hey woman..I'll try to help but I will admit I'm not the greatest when it comes to questions like this.

Elliptical I think would be fine
Bowflex would be fine if you have the money, free weights would be cheaper
You could get a tape that incorporates the free weights with the workout (assuming you have the weights)

That's all I got for ya. Good luck on your search

Anyone here use Matt Furey's "system"? - I need to get back in shape, but don't have any room for equipment (except, maybe, an exercycle.) Was looking at Matt Furey's stuff, and wondering if it offers anything promising. Anyone here use it? Any feedback is welcome. Thanks, Dave

Soloflex WBV (Whole Body Vibration) - The Soloflex WBV may be purchased from Soloflex with the platform, with the Soloflex, with the Rockit, and the motor alone to be attached to the machines. I have the Soloflex WBV motor attached to the Soloflex and another one to the Rockit. Compared to...
