anyone have any opinions plates to be used specifically for dumbell
bars?

i'm looking for the highest mass density relative to diameter. i need
some 25's, but the diameter is usually too high for use in dumbells.

thanks.

standard (1" hole) tens are usually used.

But only up to about 80 pounds on standard screwlock dumbbell handles.

i'll take a look at the tungsten angle. any suggestions on custom
manufacturers?

i think i've narrowed it down to two "thor's hammer" dumbell bars with
the 2" grips with olympic sleeves rather than standard (piedmont design
associates).

unless you guys think there is an advantage to getting standard
sleeves...i don't think i've ever even used a plate that fits on a
standard sleeve.

thx

"Thor's Hammer™ features 8" long sleeves to ensure you don't run out
of room. If you assume 1" per sleeve for outside collars space, you can
fit 7 dimes or quarters per side giving you total loads of 149 and 359
per bar, respectively. "

well, i can only handle 110's in farmer's walk (and that's standard
grip diameter, not the 2" of thor's hammer), so maybe i'll be okay for
a while without custom plates or anything like that...

Spend the $ and get some custom made tungsten plates. High strength. High
density.

I never liked those, maybe because I've only seen cheesy implementations.
The good pro plate DB's like Ivanko are the best, the NY Barbell allen key
type are OK if you keep an eye on them. Of course each dumbbell has to be
permanently set up for one weight.

I only own standard plates and only have Weider's 25 pound plates
(12" diameter).

Having been forced by a succession of weak governments to adopt the
metric system, the knock-on benefits have been surprisingly
beneficial.

There is no doubt that using metric plates makes training with weights
a great deal less arduous, and thus more pleasant, as they are
considerably lighter and easier to manage.

My PB's have increased steadily for some time now.
