i do about an hour of either cardio or wieghts training most days.
my goal is to strip about 4 kilos of fat in 4 months.
i find myself torn between the diets or either "low carb" (ie cut out white
foods) or
low fat(ie high carb, high protien diet)...

which diet do u fellow meat heads think suits me best?

The one which you will stick to.

BTW: low fat is a bad idea.

Piece of cake. Or a walk in the park.

Try low everything, with moderate protein.

You haven't considered moderate carb diets.
4 kilos in 4 months is a reasonable goal that
probably won't require anything drastic.

My recommendation is to keep a journal.
Eat normally for a week and then average
out the numbers (average daily caloric level
and macronutrient (carbohydrate/protein/fat)
ratio/percentages). From there you can
decide what changes to make. A 40-30-30
(40% carbohydrate, 30 percent protein,
30% fat) macronutrient ratio and a 500
calorie per day deficit will get you to
your goal with time to spare.

I have a journaling program in my online
briefcase that you can download if you'd
like.

Another tool to help you make the decision
about which type of diet to start with is
a metabolic typing test. There's one of those
in my briefcase as well. Feel free to try it.

Very true. Take into account your personal food preferences, and
psychological/emotional characteristics, and pick whatever diet you can
stick to.

Extremely low fat, I agree. But if a low fat diet included sufficient
essential fatty acids, it could be "low fat" and healthy.

high protein. moderate carbs. moderate fats.

don't get mayo or bacon on that burger.

don't drink pop.

don't eat anything that has a very high fat content and is stable at
room temperature for extended periods of time (fried potato chips,
doritos, etc.).

make water your main fluid source (distilled is the best).

tweak your diet just like that, and you should be doin' fine.

this is an interesting topic, because many of the traditional diets will not work for people - this is because people all have their own personal reasons for gaining weight and by taking on some random diet, you may not be fixing the problem that you have.

check out this article on why many cliche diets fail
