Im kinda tall and lanky and have been dedicated at the gym to packing
on some muscle mass. (In addition to losing my college beer gut)

Seems like every book I read on the subject has differing opinions.
One muscle group per WEEK ? I go to the gym, kill myself with dumbells
and machines...but I feel like my body is just sitting idol for a
couple days after the soreness goes away.

I do my routine...drink tons of protein / weight gainer powder and do
SOME aerobic excersise (not so much that it counteracts muscle gain). I
feel like I could do it every 5 days...7 days is annoying.

I want to get bigger ASAP. Why wait an entire week ?

I'm no expert, but how about a full body routine 3 times a week, with cardio
on the other days?

If you are tall and lanky I would recommend that you do about 2 or 3
hour-long workouts per week. These workouts should primarily consist
of the major compound exercises:
deadlift, squat, bench and incline press, pullups and pulldowns, etc.
You should work hard and feel like the off days are recuperation days
where you can rest and grow.

Good Luck,
James

pack on as much muscle as you can.

if you are an absolute beginner, go buy the bill phillips book body for
life. i know, i know, but he has some good advice for a beginner as
well as some good workouts. if your feeling ambitious, get a trainer
and tell him you want to squat, bench, and deadlift. ask him to show
you the proper form and stick to those.

i'd drop the weight gain powder... that's just sugar. replace that with
another meal.

lift 3-4x a week.. what exactly are you waiting for?

I DEFINATLY need help when it comes to dead lifts, and
squats...Benching, hell I just need a spotter / partner.

Mmm, I dunno...Many weight gain powders are formulated with carbs that
aren't digested into sugars. Tough call, but with the difficulty in
avoiding fat in a "regular meal", Im gonna stick with this stuff.

Muscle soreness recovery. No good ?

You'd be surprised. Lots of guys *think* that they know how to bench
press until they hurt their shoulders. Compared to bench pressing
deadlifting is easy.

Carbs that aren't digested into sugars don't exist, and fat isn't bad
for you (in moderation). If you really want a meal where you don't
have to cook just drink more protein. Heck, it's probably even
cheaper than the weight gain powder.

Interestingly enough it might very well be that your long rest periods
are *causing* your soreness. Unless you are 100 you don't need 7
whole days of rest.
