If you keep at it, probably long term results would be similar.
I'd get bored out of my skull on a treadmill and walk all year long outside.

Interesting that you said that you would get bored out of your skull on
a treadmill. I know a lot of people must feel like that. I am working
on an application to make exercising on a treadmill or elliptical
trainer more enjoyable. It is called Aerobic Immersion
(http://www.aerobicimmersion.com) and it is free.

If you try it, please let me know what you think.

I prefer being outside with the sun, stars, moon, wind, cold, heat, rain,
trees, frogs, birds, bats, moths* , people, flowers, cat, dogs, smells and
even the occasional skunk.

*A few years ago I inhaled a moth. Lucky for me it was big enough so it got
caught at my lips and I spit it out. But the amazing thing was how sweet the
thing tasted. The kind of taste you get in a good buttercream frosting.
I still spit it out.

Hi
I prefer walking outside too, though I've joined a gym to try and tone
up.
My visit at the gym was quite scary and felt everyone was looking at
you-you get over that.
There are four plasma screens in front of the bikes with a variety of
music and tv programmes of which buy a set of headphones and tune into
something-this does kinda take the boredom out of it.

Hi, have you ever tried 'Nordic Walking'. It's a new craze in Europe,
which is walking with two poles as support. Similar to cross country
skiing, but without the ski's. This aerobic exercise is also beneficial
for the upper body and the arms. I can sympathise with you getting
bored on a treadmill! Walking in fresh air would be so much better!
For more information on this, visit www.nordicwalking.co.uk.

Hey Mike,
I am new to this forum. I came across your idea and it caught my interest. How is your idea (Aerobic Emmersion) coming along. I too walk 30 to 50 min on the tread mill. I've lost 65lbs and I have 25 more to go. I can't seem to get this abdominal fat off. Will you idea target this area?
