Oh, but that's not ripping the ab muscle, is it?

I think that's debatable..... Wink

You end up with a hole in the abdominal wall that your intestines can
stick out thru. Worse ones are lower down, right above the scrotum.

As well as Googleable:

http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLG,GGLG...05-29,G

And:

"A hernia develops when the outer layers of the abdominal wall weaken,
bulge, or actually rip. Any part of the abdominal wall can develop a
hernia." From: http://www.herniaonline.com/hernia.html

Ouch. *Never had one and never want one.* (There. That should neatly
cover today's NO SHIT moment.)

Excellent input Curt, thanks!
My housemate had one for 6 months. Took the VA that long to schedule the
surgery... Trusses help, back supports work better depending on the
location of the tear. His was to the low right, but well above the
scrotum.

The pain was obviously not fun. Sad

He he. If you consider a 1RM of 475# heavy, then yes, I have done heavy
deadlifts. It's quite funny, actually. I'm the only one at the gym who uses
the 100# bumper plates for DL's. The rest of the people use them on the leg
press. They also get miffed when I actually use them for what they're
intended, and they have to use 45# plates. All I hear is, "When are you
going to be done with the 100# plates?" Sometimes I think I hear a whimper
in their question, too. All I do is point to all the wheels laying on the
floor.

Well, then why the initial question, dipshit?

Er... wait, let me revise MY question:

How is it that you cannot related hernias and abdominal wall tears?

Hth.

(And, yeah, enjoy hogging the weights, you prick.)

;o)
