I dont even know the name of this thing. but i need one.

It determines the % of fat your body has. i believe all you need to do is
something simple like stickin your finger in some device. not quite sure
though.

I have a weight scale that has this function built in, but it seems
inaccurate and not reliable.

Any info on the general name of this device and where a good one could be
bought would be appreciated.

thanks
mike

I own and use one and have gotten to compare it to calipers several
times and it's always very close.

I've been called many things, but never a pimp - first time for
everything, I guess...

I own one too. Got one on ebay for $15.

I have compared it to calipers and find that calipers give a much
more reliable estimate than the omron which is very sensitive to the
degree of hydration. Even if you take it first thing in the morning it
can vary by as much as 3 points in my experience. The Tanita scale has
the same problem. Try taking a measurement then wash your hands, dry
them and take it again to see how much variation there can be.

I would not rely on it for either an accurate assessment of body fat
nor as a way to measure body fat changes. YMMV.
