Hello,
I have read that to burn fat is to do cardio in the morning on an empty
stomach and wait one hour before eating breakfast, makes sense?
Unfortunately, I do not have the luxuary of waking up early in the
morning to do this. When I wake up, I usually have a protein shake (300
calories). Around 10:30am I get very hungry and have a half
peanutbutter and jelly sandwich, then at noon I'll go to the gym and do
cardio for about 25 minutes. I usually wait about an hour after cardio
to eat (by that time, I'm really hungry). I usually eat a high protein
meal around 1:30pm. I am wondering if this is a good program? I have
heard that running in the evening is not that effective for burning
fat, is that true, or could somebody recommend a better way? Thanks in
advance.

Doesn't eating after cardio defeats the purpose of burning fat? After
cardio, rather than the body burn body fat for fuel, its going straight
to that stomach full of yummy food? Am I correct, I'm not a
nutritionist.

Doing only 25minutes of cardio a day isnt much of an activity dent,
depending on what your goals are. Maybe for maintaining your current
weight, but certainly not for fatloss. And I am assuming you also lift
weights? If you dont, you should.

Morning cardio may help somewhat, but the time of day isn't as important
as the overall balance of calories in versus calories out. Since many
people create grand fitness plans that they then stop following, I
suggest you find a schedule that works for you and not worry too much
about doing your cardio in the morning.

If you control calorie intake, even 25 minutes of cardio can help with
fatloss. Might be slow fat loss, but it's fat loss.

John Parrillo recommends it (the morning cardio - not sure abut the
not eating for an hour though) as does Chris Aceto, I think. The idea
is that you've been asleep all nigght and your glycogen levels should
be at a low point so you will begin to burn fat almost immedialtely.

The concern for those trying to gain wieght, is that you might also
burn up muscle tissue. Parillo contends that with MCT oils and also
eating when your done (and throughout the day) that musle loss is
minimal.

Your mileage may vary.

at a low point? Considering that you've been sleeping, I wouldn't think that
the low point would be very low relative to the amount of stored glycogen
possible (assuming person is using a typical non-low carb diet)

Perhaps. I really don't know. My take is that I'd rather defeat that
purpose a bit rather than burn up more muscle tissue.

Again, I'd do the cardio... ok.. I'm a powerlifter and those that
know me will call me on the words "I'd do the cardio" so let me
rephrase that..... I'd THEORETICALLY do the cardio.... for 30-40
minutes and then eat something...
