Just do what they do in Army infantry: eat a lot and exercise a lot.
The exercise burns fat while forcing your body to make use of the
protein for muscles.
Yeah you can get more technical about things and bring in the numbers,
but the principle's the same.
I think it's mainly psychological. Basically, I lift more when I have
a spotter and am not counting reps. >> Stay informed about: How to avoid weakness at the gym when trying to lose weight |

It's all in your head... Seriously.
I once went nuts and did a 2 week fast.
Ok, I was young and stupid, but still took vitamin supplements
and plenty of water.
Guess what? I managed to maintain the same lifts.
Lost 20 lbs. but I do NOT recommend this!

See above.
I'm not kidding.
Trouble with fasting tho' is that you lose muscle bulk.

Keep up the protein, cut back on fat and starchy/sugary carbs.
Buy Lyle's book.

I thought you were one of the good guys Pete; that is a crass response
and does you no credit. I thought the Group had left that sort of
idiocy behind a long time ago!
However, do have a great weekend - I always do! ;o)

Ehhh... Charles, if you want to preserve LBM while on a diet, and you ask
for "tricks", you might get an answer like;
"Inject 300 Primo or Deca each week."
Which is why i restrained myself for actually answering this question.
And about the idiocy... Nevermind.

So it might have been a better option to have not replied at all.

You have a brand of idiocy which can be very amusing most of the time.
I just thought you were better than that and might be above taking the
piss out of an inexperienced new poster to the Group.

I will not be drawn into your "trolling" Oz, and unless you are very
careful I shall feel obliged to consider allegedly "killfiling" you -
is that clear?
(nbr - Pete by a mile or 100 whichever comes first.)
Have a great weekend mate - you know I will! ;o)

I am not the lease concerned. I have been allegedly killfiled by
professionals (Lee Michaels for instance and among many others)
