My beginner workout routine good? - I started lifting weights about a month ago, and I have asked for advice from my friends and I wanted to know if what I am doing is correct. A typical week at the gym looks like this: (a rep about equal to 10 tries) Monday: 10 min run to warm up, 3..

Post subject: I need advice ........ What to wear to the gym?

I know its probably simple but iv been going to the gym now for 5 months and i wear t shirt and shorts. I wear the shorts because i sweat alot, but an instructor told me i should wear a tracksuit top and bottoms. Actually wear under armour under neath the tracksuit and it would increase my weight loss and muscle gain. Is this true? It sort of makes sense but im really a beginner and its what he does. He also said to get a running suit with the breathable material or a heavy cotton tracksuit. I have seen body builders using all of these but as i said im a beginner.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks all.

I don't wear a tracksuit. I wear shorts or sweat pants. Shorts are OK unless things creep out. But the right shorts should keep everything where it belongs.

The clothing will not effect long-term fat loss or muscle gain. Both fat loss and muscle gain are related to caloric balance. In conjunction with a balanced fitness program a negative caloric balance (where calric expenditure exceeds caloric intake) will result in fat loss; a positive caloric balance from nutritious sources and combined with a properly designed and executed strength training program will result in a gain in muscle mass. Your clothing may have a short term effect on water loss during the workout, but nothing permanent. Good luck!
