Got my first 225 lb bench press today. I had hoped to hit that target
on my 50th birthday next week, and I've made it a week ahead of
schedule. I'd stalled at about 190 for a few reps, and a 1RM of about
210, for God knows how long, but a (roughly) four-week wave cycle,
starting at about 70% 1RM, 2 sets of 5 following a
140-145-150-145-150-155-150-155-160 etc up to 2 X 5@200 progression,
benching every day, added the extra 15 lb. Now I know benching every
day is frowned on by lots of folks here, but it certainly worked for
me.

Yay the oul' boys!

Stephen

No it's not. "Yes" or "No" is the answer you were looking for,
otherwise a man of your towering intellect surely wouldn't have asked a
question that had a simple "Yes" or "No" answer. If Stephan's answer
had been the answer you were looking for, surely you'd have asked the
TWO questions, "Is 225 lb less or more than 100 kg, and what is 225 lb
in kilograms"? My answer to your question was, of course, designed to
test you.

Yours pedantically

Stephen

Great! Now focus on something more important than numbers. Lowering
your body fat and increasing your overall body strength.

How much do you weigh?

No disrespect, but....What's important to you may not be important to
me. The numbers ARE important to me. You don't know what my bodyfat
level is, how long I've been training, what level my "overall body
strength" is at (400+ deadlift, 300 ATTG squat, just in case you're
wonderin', though that was a while ago before a back injury'!), or what
any of my goals are. I'm not having a pop at you, I'm just saying that
we might have completely different goals.

About 184 lb.

I should have phrased that better. Bench press numbers. And, no duh.

Well there ya go.

Define "overall strength" for me, if you would.

Fifty, you say? So perhaps there's hope yet for me.

Interesting.

And who is ephedralover to dictate Mully's goals?

Might have wanted to let him bask in a worthy accomplishment a bit
longer that that one syllable "Great!" you offered, eph.

And, yeah, what if his body fat is zero percent and his squat is 500
pounds?

> How much do you weigh?

What is THAT number without the context of height, body fat percentage,
and specific lift numbers?

Be basked long enough!! And the weight in relation to bench press max

What is weak is your ability to clench your anal sphincter after your

But, hey, let those of us with sub-225 benches bask vicariously, okay?
OKAY?

Regardless of all basking, you were - imo - raining on his parade. Just
a bit.

Hmm. That may be true, however I don't hold to that idea as my arms are
eight-feet long and therefore leverage is my enemy.

You have your 200-pound lifters with 32" sleeves and then you have your
200-pound lifters with 42" sleeves. BAH!

I know better than to stand between anyone and their caffeine. Surprised)
