I want to get a cross trainer machine, as I felt I got more results with
that one machine at the gym than any other. The thing was after you have
been on it 20+ minutes or so, other people would be wanting to use it! So
once my multigym is sold, (free up the spare room), I wish to get a decent
cross trainer machine, not too cheap as I want to get a lot of work out of
it, and not fall apart after 6 months. If someone could point me in the
right direction, it would be appreciated. I used a Life Fitness one at the
local gym, but I have enquired about them, and I think it a few thousand
pounds at least, a bit out of my price range!
But one with a pulse monitor, as I felt with the monitor you could push
yourself a little harder each time, and keep track of your progress.

You can monitor your pulse with any heart rate monitor which can be
purchased separately for less than $100 - I bought a new one from ebay that
works just fine for $35.

I don't know anything about what a cross-trainer is - I assume it's some
sort of cross-country ski machine - but my point is only that you needn't
get one with a built-in HRM if that adds a lot to the price.
