The world is made up of two kinds of people: those who divide people
into two groups, and those that don't.

My point was that it is better to be a hypocrite that is genuinely
trying to do better than to profess no values at all. Anyone can live
up to their principles if they don't have any principles. In your
case, while I don't personally hold your same beliefs, I do respect
your attempt to allow your beliefs to change your life for the better.

It makes me mad when someone is clearly trying to live up to some sort
of ethical code and some dork on the sidelines points out the many
ways in which they could do better, or the cases in which the person
has had to compromise his or her principles.

Reread my post again. I was applauding you.

heh

Thus illustrating the truism that no good deed goes unpunished. ;o)

Jason, uh, somethingsomething... parse, too.

The double negative trip, perhaps. Your statement, "Pointing out
hypocrisy is the sort of thing that only people who have no ideals
whatsoever can do with impunity." may have been a sticking point for
ephedralover. And, yeah, people often just skip to the end of a post.
You finished, "Aspiring to be a better person means that you will
often fall short of your goal."

(imaginary) ephedralover: "FALL SHORT OF MY GOAL? Why, that Jason
Earl, son of a... imma GET him!"

Just a guess.

Once, at school, I got heated over a teacher's actions. I approached
the teacher and stated as much. Turns out that I was entirely in the
wrong. She calmly stated THAT. I stood there and let my wrongness sink
in, but refused to accept my error in judgment, in my interpretation
of the events. Later that day, I went back to the teacher and
apologized.

Looking forward to ephedralover's REinterpretation of your words.

....

Draw no parallels to this newsgroup, however. I AM ALWAYS RIGHT.
EVERYONE ELSE IS ALWAYS WRONG.

(grips pen tightly and poised over Those Most Hated list)

This will be your only warning.

Heated? You got heated? Pray, what exactly got you heated? Perhaps she
exposed a breast?

You approached the teacher? Did you just walk up to her? Did you take an
aggressive stance?

Entirely wrong? Was there no shadow of a doubt? Could there have been
another interpretation?

Did this all end happily?

She didn't pick her kids up on time. I know, the HORROR! But, as I

Teachers don't have secondary sexual characteristics. We're all just

No.

No.

She did not pick her students up at the end of the class time because
on one of the two days during the six-day cycle, I had prearranged
that - since I was coming downstairs for lunch duty anyway - I would
line her students up and accompany them to her room. So, in fact, she
did not pick her kids up late, rather I failed to deliver her students
on time. D'OH!

Not sure I'd call it overly aggressive, but, yes, agitated would not
be incorrect.

it would be helpful if you shared with us the actual details of the
teacher's actions and the precise reason for your increase in temperature

Done elsewhere in this thread.

But I forgot the one bit courtesy of Google (naturally)...

|
| No.

Ahhh, much better.

She showed up late to pick up her kids, but actually I was the one who
had failed to take her students down to her classroom at the end of
Art class. On my way to caf duty, I stopped by her room and asked why
she had been late. She calmly replied, something like, "Because you
said you'd bring them down on day two (or three or four or whatever it
was at that time)." I blinked and said something like, "Oh, so the
reason you didn't pick your kids up on time is because ~*I*~ had said
that I'd bring them down, eh? Oh? Is that right?" She, again calmly,
replied with something like, "Yes."

And then I stormed off.

heh

Denial? Naaaah.

Now, whenever, I do something stupid (a raaaaare event, to be sure) I
reminisce over those events. ;o)

dunno Curt - you know about the recent spate of sexy female teachers
seducing their students - those poor unfortunate boys that are now

With the greatest respect Sir, but Dolly is a "Triathlete" although
she did (that phase, like many others, has gone very quiet?) only
compete against the aged and infirm.
