Hi, I am 27 year old thin vegetarian guy. I want to gain weight
and build muscle. Can you please help me with the following questions?

Where can I find help regarding diet and recipies? I have baught
whey protein powder. Do I need any other suppliments?
I have never been to gym before. How should I choose a gym and what
kind of excercises would be good for me?
When should I expect to achieve my goals of building muscle and
gaining some weight?

Thanks.

I do not eat any food that involves killing animals(I am not intending
to offend anyone, just answering your question). I don't mind if you or
anyone else eats meat.

I do eat dairy. I don't eat eggs but I am willing to eat them if it
will help me.

I don't want to get involved in killing animals intentionally when I
don't have to. If it comes to my survival, I will do anything.

I want to continue to be a vegetarian and try to build body over the
next 3 months. If I fail, I will try meat for the following 3 months.

There are plenty of vegatarian protien supplements. Lots of beans,
tofu, whole wheat pasta, etc.

There are a number of vegetarian oriented bb-ing web sites. Try a google
search.

Yes, a good hamburger.

The same ones that work for everyone else: basic compound movements like
squats, bench press, etc.

Impossible to answer.

Everything involves killing animals. Tapeworms are animals. If you
had one in your gut, you would be overjoyed to kill the little
bastard. When it comes to the killing of animals, there are no
absolutes. It's all a matter of how much karma you want to incur.

I am the proud scion of cattle ranchers, and I happen to think that
vegetarianism is silly.

However, even I can see that it is better to hold to a belief
imperfectly than to hold to no beliefs at all. If good_man believes
that the world is a better place because he abstains from killing
animals, then why criticize him because his wallet is made out of
leather? Clearly his abstinence means that less animals are
slaughtered.

Pointing out hypocrisy is the sort of thing that only people who have
no ideals whatsoever can do with impunity. Aspiring to be a better
person means that you will often fall short of your goal.

Mike Mahler has some interesting things to say on the subject. As
someone that has actually lived on a ranch and worked at a dairy I
think that he has some very wacky things to say about "factory
farming," but his exercise advice is pretty solid, and he certainly
has plenty of resources for vegans/vegetarians that want to add
muscle.

If you have no problems with dairy and/or eggs then getting enough
protein should be pretty straightforward.

Good Luck,
Jason

You DO realize that whey protein comes from cows?

Maybe you need to define your "vegetarianism" for us first.
