- If you're seeing a psychologist or psychiatrist, you might as well
stop. That's nothing more than secular religion. (Religions used to
dispense drugs, too, back in the old days.) People go to psychs for
decades and never see any real improvement. It's really just self-help
that you have to keep paying for.
- You can pretty much ignore what any fitness gurus have to tell you
about losing weight. Most of them have been fit all their lives and have
no real insight into solving obesity. You've been fat for years now,
maybe decades. "Diet and exercise" is not going to work. Well, it would
work, in theory... but in practice you don't have the mentality necessary
to do that. It would take too long, and you need satisfaction
immediately; it's part of the reason you're fat.
- Pay for medical technology. Put the money from those psych sessions to
an end which will have a tangible effect. Get your doctor to prescribe
the heavy-hitting weight loss drugs. Better yet, get surgery: get your
stomach reduced or bound, or even better, get liposuction. When you
suddenly aren't carrying around 150 extra pounds you'll find it a lot
easier to "diet and exercise" like those annoying pricks keep saying.
Develop willpower from the top down. It's not "cheating," any more than
using a gym machine to workout is cheating. It's technology. This is
2006, take advantage of it.
- Once you've lost some weight, start making fun of fat people. Mock them
openly. It'll make you feel like you're part of a club you were once
denied access to. You'll smile and have a lot of fun doing it, and in the
end you'll feel great. >> Stay informed about: Tips if you are fat and depressed: |

If you are practicing some form of exercise that is more fatal than 1
death in 5000 procedures then you need to give up bull fighting and
try lifting weights.
Let's face it, there are hundreds of thousands of people that have
shown that you can reduce your body fat levels safely and effectively
by altering your lifestyle. I'm down 40 pounds. What's more, I have
equipped myself with the tools to keep that weight off indefinitely.
Not only am I carrying around less weight, but I have lowered my blood
pressure and my resting heart rate, I have increased my work capacity,
and I have almost certainly increased my bone density as well. The
aches and pains that used to great me at the beginning of each day
have been replaced with occasional muscle soreness whenever I try some
new feat of strength or test my athleticism in some obscure new way.
Exercise is easy, cheap, and fun. Surgery is expensive, dangerous,
and painful.
Learning to exercise isn't hard either. Simply start small and add
more stuff as you start to make progress. Repeat forever. I started
with walking/running a mile three times a week. I've come a long way
since then.

Perhaps you, like the other "duh-iet and exercise!" Nazis, missed the
subject of this thread: tips if you are fat AND depressed. If you are fat
and happily motivated, then fine, fatty. These tips aren't for you.
The tired "diet and exercise" suggestion only works if the person is
motivated over the long term. This obviously cannot apply to individuals
who are depressed.
The fat is the cause of the depression, and the depression keeps the
person fat. The best way to break out of this cycle is to utilize current
medical technology to get rid of the fat without the necessity of
willpower.
Willpower and confidence will develop later, once the fat has been dealt
with using the techniques of modern science. There's no reason to be
stubbornly archaic. It's 2006. Have some surgery. >> Stay informed about: Tips if you are fat and depressed: |

You have a valid point.
I'd like to subscribe to your newsletter.
I suspect the alt.support groups may disagree.
I eliminated the "pro" wrestling group from the crosspost. Retarded people

It's called bupropion. You're welcome.

"In many countries, lipoplasty is the most frequently performed
aesthetic procedure. It has been promoted as a safe, easy-to-learn,
outpatient procedure. Although plastic surgeons have developed safety
measures to perform the technique, there are serious risks, including
death at a rate of 1/5000 procedures. Life-threatening complications
include pulmonary embolism, hemorrhage, perforation, infection,
lidocaine toxicity, epinephrine toxicity, third space fluid shifts,
and fat embolism syndrome. Aesthetic complications include
undercorrection (insufficient fat removal), overcorrection (excess fat
removal), irregular fat removal with palpable and visible
irregularities, edema, hematoma, seroma, local infection, cutaneous
slough, hyperpigmentation, vasculopathies, and permanent color changes
in the skin. In this article we present methods to prevent and, when
possible, treat these complications." Toledo LS, Mauad R.

You could stick a gun barrel in your mouth and cure your depression.
Of course, if you're clinically depressed, you probably have already
thought of that.
Or you could just quit whining and STFU.

The 1-in-5000 "statistic" is only Luddite FUD, since most of the deaths
were in the early modern history of liposuction and the process has, like
all other surgical procedures, increased in safety over the years.
Exercise is not easy or fun. That's a lie. It is hard work and losing a
significant amount of weight requires extreme discipline over a long period
of time. If you can do it, great. Most people can't. That's why most
Americans are fat. If they COULD be thin, they would be.
The mental bullying you fitness Nazis perpetuate is unconscionable. "Do it
our way, or you'll DIE!" Yeah, whatever. Keep cowering in your gymnasiums,
liars.
Many formerly fat people have found their strength through surgery. Don't
listen to the zealots. Make your life better now rather than subscribing to
an exercise regimen that will take half a decade to get you to your goal
weight, and only then if you have an extremely rare level of dedication.
The diet and exercise industries have been booming for decades for a
reason. >> Stay informed about: Tips if you are fat and depressed: |

Exercise is not easy or fun if you are carrying 100 excess pounds. You
don't see obese people participating in athletics for fun, because it isn't
fun for them. It's horrific torture. Even sumo wrestlers look miserable
after 15 seconds.
Exercise is fine for people in a normal weight range. If you're overweight,
get there through surgery. It's the fastest and easiest way. It's safe,
too.
Take the shortcut. Have a little surgery. It's 2006. Don't let the
