There are a lot more choices if you're willing to mail order. If you have to limit yourself to regular stores, just use whatever they offer that is a decent deal and instantized. Instantized is important. If you don't specifically look for it, you could end up with an old style powder that requires a blender. After you've experienced instantized powders, getting stuck with an old style powder will piss you off. I know that from experience. As for taste, I haven't tried them all, but of the ones I have tried the one I enjoyed the most was Champion Nutrition's Pure Whey Stack chocolate. It's said to contain dutch process cocoa. To me it has more of a bittersweet chocolate flavor that a mature person can enjoy. I've seen it as low as around $5/pound. Consider $5/pound as your goal.
