I've been on a program to get below 10% body fat. During the program,
I've been using a Tanita Body Fat Scale to track progress.
Unfortunately, my experience with this device has been mostly negative
(though it's been good for measuring weight). Tanita according to their
manual says that this gadget gives more accurate readings than all of
the other methods out there. But that turns out to be be false
advertising as shown below.
My Stats-
Start: 152lbs, 12.8-14.1%
Current: 147lbs, 11.4-13.1%
I can't ever get that thing to read right! I take all of my
measurements each morning right after waking up at the same time
everyday after urination. For measuring weight, it's very accurate.
But. for fat%, it appears to be Crap from what I can tell.
The issue is that there will be as much as 1.7% differences in readings
from day to day! This happens even when hydration levels and food
intake levels stay the same. I can tell because the color of the urine
is the same each time yet fat% readings constantly vary up 'n down
despite maintaining a consistent Calorie deficit and losing fat
steadily. My fat% is definitely going down because my clothes are
fitting better, I look leaner, and my 'love handles' are getting
smaller.
I'm not using a Tanita Body Fat scale ever again!
I think Tanita feels that their body fat scale needs help, so they
continue to market it and sell it. I see that thing with many companies
that sell inferior and/or hype-type products. For another example of
this type of thing, read about my bad K&N air filter experience here:

Anyone care to share your experiences with Tanita fat scales?
