I'm trying to split up my leg routine. You guys see any problem with doing
deads one day, then squats the next? Too much the same muscle groups? I'm
thinking so, but I remember we had some discussion about this a year or so
ago and don't remember what became of it.

it depends on how much leg work you do per week. if you mean doing
deadlifts on monday and thursday, and squats on tuesday and friday,
then there really shouldn't be a problem.

personally, i think you could do just fine with performing each of
those exercises just once per week...say, deadlift on monday and squat
on friday.

it really depends on what kind of results you're looking for and what
your goals are.

I don't see anything wrong with it if you follow it with some sort of
recuperative period. It may be less than optimal from a muscular
adaptation standpoint, but good from a neurological adaptation
standpoint.

Larry,
After I do deadlifts or squats I usually feel like I need a
recuperation period afterwards. I feel like if I did deadlifts and
squats on back to back days for long I would end with some type of
overuse injury. I typically do deadlifts followed by squats on my
leg/back day. I follow this up with pullups and rows and whatever else
I feel like.
You can try out the back to back days and see how you feel. Last
week I did deadlifts at lunch and then squats in the evening; it was
not fun and I was thinking how I really like getting them both over
with in the same workout. I felt like my legs were telling me, "Hey!
It's time to rest and recuperate!", while I was doing those squats.
>From now on if I do a two a day (a rarity) I will do the dl/squat at
lunch and work the rest of the back in the evening. I typically lift 2
or 3 times a week total.

Good luck,
James

If you mean split into 2 workouts evenly spread over a week or
(8, 9, 10 day period) sure. Doing them on back to back days
would be like Olympic lifting training and require varied
intensities and such.

I of course meant "doing MY meat".
