Ha! Maybe so, but seeing as how the character's suffered a divorce and
increased scrutiny from all sides and even stress from his
crewmembers, I'd say gaining a few pounds works to the character's
benefit so far as verisimilitude goes.

Oh, Jesus, I pulled my thesaurus muscle!

Your Fire Island Police Department members are not representative of law
enforcement officers elsewhere.

You don't want to get caught littering by those guys...

Anyhow, we've seen your Reno police force.

Hey, it gets hot in Reno. Shorts are perfectly acceptable.

Damn you... I had to google that one, but thanks. Wink

It's going to come in very handy for a carefully worded reply to some
far right conservatives on a private e-mail list I am on.

Guy (a co-worker) was right. Far right rabid conservatives are every bit
as scary as far left flaming liberals! Extremism is not a good thing in
any society.

I walk a centrist ground personally.
Guy is someone I regularly have political debates with at work, but it's
always in a friendly manner. He does not get ruffled anymore than I do
and we've been friends for several years.

I can't believe the list moderator accused me of being a marxist! Smile

Carl Marx was an unrealistic idealist.
The only way his concepts would work would be in a truly Utopian society
where everyone was willing to work their asses off for the common good.

Human nature does not work that way...

The police need to seriously learn to restrict their beatings to
non-vital areas of the human body...

Maybe a human anatomy and physiology course would be a good idea at the
academy?

"Bruce Randall is unique in the annals of strength/bodybuilding
history for his remarkable self-transformation over a period of
several months. Winner of the 1959 Mr. Universe, Randall's training
journey began 6 years earlier while serving in the Marines at Norfolk
Virginia. Originally inspired to bulk up and train with the weights in
order to play football for the base team, Randall went from a
bodyweight of 200 to 250 lbs in just a few months. After deciding to
abandon his football aspirations, Randall concentrated on lifting for
its own sake and bulked up another 100 lbs over the next year. His
training was simple: all manner of presses and the good morning
exercise were two of his mainstays. Reps in the 5-8 range. Never more
than 3 sets per exercise. By 1955 Bruce was weighing 401 lbs and
capable of a 685 lb good morning, 375 lb clean and press, 392 lb
military from the rack, a 680 lb squat, a 771 lb deadlift, 242 lb
strict curl, 482 lb bench with a pause, and a 2100 lb half squat.

Randall then decided to reduce in size and lost 218 lbs over the next
32 weeks, ending up at 187 lbs in 1956. By 1959 Bruce was back around
220 and sported a 20 inch taper between his waist and chest: 29" and
49" respectively. Later on Randall would become a noted lecturer,
strength coach for the Washington Redskins, Diversified Products
representative, and author of numerous books and articles."/copy and

By way of using verisimilitude as a club against some people on a
private e-mail list, I do believe. ;o)

Carl Marx, lesser known than his famous cousin, of course.

Okay, okay, I'll leave the attempts at humor to Tom Anderson and David
Cohen.

Typo, sorry.

I did know that...

It's been on my mind from another list.
They pissed me off when I was accused of being a Marxist by one of the
list members. Wink

Had to do with my outrage over Gas prices.

The old-timers used to sandwich the head between phone books so they would
leave no marks. I guess that area would qualify as non-vital for some
skells.
