For machines of this type, the instructions I've always seen say to try
to get as much support of the upper arms as possible, which means you
don't want to sit too high on the thing. Try to get the pad almost to
your armpits. This is based on the similar Cybex gadget we have at my
local Y. Otherwise the idea is to get the rest of your body comfortable
and try not to move it when you're lifting the weight. Bad form on this
machine is picking your butt up off the bench to start and sitting down
during the course of the movement. We've got a guy at our gym who does
this - the movement turns into a weird row, involving the legs, back,
and whatever else he can figure out how to use.
