I did a few squats and deadlifts a couple of days ago and I have a little
pain under my left knee cap on the inside. It feels like I banged my knee
into a table softly. Any reason for concern. The pain is mild, but steady.

Charle Tuna is one of his many names. He used three different names in
the dog thread. I imagine he will start arguing with himself soon.

Sorry. I guess I should just be a one-name turd like you. There is real
class. A-T recognized everywhere as: A Turd.

"Hobbes" <> Deep squats are the best thing you can do for your knee health.

Heavy weights or just for the sake of exercise? My knees always hurt when I
do them. I never do them any more. Now if I started again, I am concerned
that it will be easier to pop my knees.

I know I am not the only one that never does Squats. Of 100 people or so
that I see regularly at the gym, maybe 8-10 of them ever do Squats. So if
the average person that never does Squats wanted to try them, is their
chance of injury alot greater than for the person that has been doing them
since youth?

I don't think heavy squats are necessary. But squatting is a natural
movement that people don't get anymore with sedentary lifestyles and
chairs. it should be done. Bodyweight squats are fine for general
health, IMO.

Serious question here. Do you squat deep or partial?

Say that 10 times very fast. Sounds like 'tuna roll'.

Poor form and lifting too heavy can do that.

Big deal. People don't do them case they are difficult.

Not if this person starts out slow and trains smart. Trying to see how
much weight one can do after the first week or two is not smart.

Sounds like what happened to my right knee, maybe 8 or 9 months ago,
after I did my normal round of ATTG body-weight squats one morning.
In my case the pain became so bad, for a while, that I had difficulty
walking. The problem gradually went away and now no longer troubles
me. I still feel a bit of mild discomfort in that knee from
time-to-time.

I've been doing just-below-parallel squats on a squat machine at my
fitness club since the beginning of March. Neither that, nor the leg
extensions nor leg curls have been a problem.

When I move from machines to free-weights, or at least add
free-weights to my routine, I expect to do (try?) ATTG squats with
weight. Keith says they're good for your knees, and he strikes me as
one of the more knowledgeable, and more sane, regulars here Smile.

I kinda agree, I only do squats with two 10Kg or 12.5Kg dumbells
Does the trick for me. Actually exhausts me more than some of the
other heavier weighted exercises I do.

I always go deep, but with light weights.
