Welcome!

I'm not the greatest person to give you advice but I'll try.

Eat 5-6 meals a day
Cardio 3 times/week
Strength training when not doing cardio
When eating a meal, try to get one of each (protein, carb, fat) in the meals
Lots of veggies
Lots of fruits
Lots of protein
Cheat meal - once a week
If you fall down (cheat), don't get upset, get back up and go on

Hope this helps
Sheri

A great way to see quick changes in your midsection is what's called the 'vacuum exercise'. It's fallen out of favor, but it used to be a big deal amongst weightlifters and elite bodybuilders. Breathe out and suck in your stomach, trying to touch your navel to your spine. The reason that this exercise works is that most abdominal exercises work your outer abdominals, the abdominus rectus and external obliques. These are the six-pack muscles, but they don't need to be very big to have the kind of definition most seek. The transverse abdominus muscle is internal, and especially in older folks who spend a lot of time sitting down, this muscle tends to be weak. The stomach vacuum exercise will strengthen and tighten this muscle, and you cold possibly see a few inches of very quick reduction in your waistline, depending on your makeup. This muscle will also provide you with lumbar support, improving your posture and reducing lower back pain, which is often a problem for older males. The big trick is reducing calories, though. You can find a great guide at http://www.fitresolution.com/guides.html?guideid=17, it has a bunch of helpful tips and easy ways to change your caloric intake. I'd strongly recommend the stomach vacuum exercise, it's something that's missing from a lot of shaping plans, and it's a great confidence booster if it takes off an inch or two in as many months.

I was highly impressed with the training program noted below. Basically I believe all fitness programs are similar no matter which one you choose; but I like this one because it additionally gives me lots of positive & prompted motivation especially when I was stuck somewhere in the program. These additional things made me to carry on... My fitness goal is not reached yet...but I know I will get it if I don't give up. Smile

Good luck!

IF you want to get a six pack or at least a flatter stomach you have to do cardio. Although there is no way to target fat loss (meaning you can't just to sittups after situps after situps and expect to lose fat around your stomach), there is more chance you will burn the fat as long as you exerices properly.

Actually there's really no quick fix solution to get flat stomach and lose those belly fat. There are no pills or supplements of any sort that will help you lose your abdominal fat faster. Also, none of the gimmicky ab rockers, rollers, or ab belts will help get rid of abdominal fat either. You can't spot reduce your stomach fat by using any of these worthless contraptions. It simply doesn't work that way.

I believe that only solution to lose those abdominal fats and keep it for good is to eat nutritious diet full of unprocessed natural foods with good exercise program. Once you get this combination right, you'll be on the righ track. You can also check out my blog at http://www.howtoloselovehandles.blogspot.com (How To Lose Love Handles - Simple and Proven Exercises for Love Handles) where those simple exercises that worked for me. It may not work for you but it's worth of a look.

I'd rather keep the belly.

No, seriously, I thought the first suggestion was pretty good. Sheri.
