Normally it is better to change the request for your body, because your
body reacts only if there isn't the same challenge every day. So try to
mix short rapid walks (3 miles in about 40*) minutes) and long (your 5
miles will do) slow (70 to 80 minutes) walks with and without hills.
That would do best.
But don't do several short walks on the same day that sounds like
exhausting your body in the end.
*) Times are possible for an not very well trained mid-age male in good
health status. Watch your blood sugar when dooing rapid walks!
