In the last 2 days, I have been beset by hip pain in the right hip. It
is most acute when I try to walk, so I have to walk slowly and
awkwardly. Another example, if I drive for a while, getting out of the
truck and walking after that is very painful. Could it be that I
pulled some muscle. I did handle some engines on carts, and may have
lifted them from some bad position to get the cart over a small
threshold, though I do not recall any problems at the time when I may
have lifted them. I would say the lifts were 200 lbs lifted by 1" or
so. Do you recognize this as something you have encountered before. Thanks.

Hey ig,
The key to health is:
Every time you get the urge to exercise, lay down until the urge passes.
Smile

Your problem: could be a zillion things.
I have found myself w/ odd piercing joint pain, that disappears after the
appropriate "clicks & pops" occur--iow, sumpn was out of whack. The trick
is, if it's an out-of-whack problem, how do you put it back?

Some people have an ability to "crack" many of their joints, for sometimes
instant relief. I can occasionally employ this, but it's almost impossible
to explain how to do.
Chiropractors can do this as well.
I can only say experiment w/ gently twisting/shifting motions, including leg
crossings while seated--this one works for me once in a while.
If you know how to crack your knees (stiff legged, short sharp twists), this
can get the hip as well.
The actual motions for re-setting a cocked joint can be very subtle, as
well.
Also, try *deep deep*--ie, ass-on-the-floor-- kneebends/squats, perhaps w/
the help of a bar (HoloBarre, per chance--awww sheeit, they're STILL not
ready!!!), or pole, couch, whatever.

Hanging by your hands, w/ various twisting, knee-lifts, etc. might help.
Inversion can work miracles, for the knees and hips, in addition to the
back.
Sam's club/costco occasionally have the teeter-totter type passive inverters
for $139 or so. I got one. Decent. An item that can be *extraordinarily*
useful for some people.

I myself get much better results inverting via an overhead motorized winch,
on, you guessed it, a HB.
Trick is holding the feet. Various "gravity boots" are available, the
cheapies I got wholesale actually a bit better for this app than the full
blown Spyder brand.
And not so cheap--$50, way overpriced, imo. The Spyders are proly $150 by
now.

Or, there might be some real damage, req'g xrays, etc.

I think everyone should be taking Glucosamine, chondroitin, msm, HA.
Puritan pride has the first three in one tablet, mebbe someone as all 4
together. Cheap enough, now, now that the brouhaha is finally over.

What kind of pain and where does it radiate from?
It almost sounds like Sciatica.

Stretching, hyperextensions and lots of Ibuprofen takes care of it for
me along with regular mineral and trace mineral supplementation.

I only have to use Ibuprofen when it flares up. It's not an "every day
all the time" thing.

HTH?

could have been more than 200 lbs, now that I think about it, the
engines were 800 lbs each and I was lifting one corner at a time.

Google for Sciatica. It's unbelievably common

Try it for 3 days and see what happens, then try to find out what is
irritating it.

How do you sleep? Back? Side? Stomach?

It does indeed make a HUGE difference.

It doesn't have to be a "displacement", like a dislocated shoulder.
These joint things can be very subtle--just a little twist, crack pop...
If it's a joint thing.
Could be quite a few things, but I prattle on and on about this joint
business only because it is the problem that potentially has a
near-instantaneous cure.
Anything else is a slow-heal.

I have an joint problem whereby my ankle/foot misaligns and I end up being
forced to walk on the outside of my foot (weight goes on metatarsal rather
than fleshy side of foot] and it's v.painful to walk barefoot on hard
surfaces. I can either attempt to re-lodge it by shaking it about a lot and
maybe get lucky [works best in a pool where there is some resistance] or my
physio does it with me face down with knee at 90 and giving my ankle a real
good shaking [fnarr-fnaar]. Right as rain once it's back in place.

That's all.
