I finally changed the way I walk after finally calling the sheriffs dept on
a particular dog.
That house is the only house where I've had trouble with dogs.

I'd call and report it every time, that way even if nothing is done you have
a record for your law suit.

Get some pepper spray.

I used to just get agressive with dogs and drive them off but I tried what
the experts said the last time. I just stood still, and kept my eye on the
dog. It finally got bored and walked off.

People should be fined for letting their dogs run loose, IMO!

The leash law is in effect here; dogs aren't allowed to be on the city
streets without an owner and a leash. One problem is we have a large
cemetery that's great for walking, up and down hills, many footpaths
etx. Now it's also a great place for dogs to run loose. I've talked
to a few of the dog owners, they say "It's great to be able to let your
dog run loose in here." They feel perfectly free to run their dogs,
even if they chase you and bark their heads off. A friend of mine was
assaulted by a dog who even though he was wearing a muzzle, the dog
knocked her over and got her all muddy and she had some scratches. I
guess where I'm going with this is beware of open places where people
feel free to run their dogs, and are also good walking areas. The two
activities don't match.
