Anyone have a recommendation as to where to buy some reasonable
quality/not too expensive dumbbells? In or near San Francisco would
be great. If it's near I prefer traveling to the peninsula over
traveling to the east bay, but either would be okay....

I've been buying the vinyl covered ones at Target, but I'm beginning
to think that's silly. Smile

Thanks

Craigslist or ebay- look for some gym quality Ivanko type DB's-otherwise,
Costco or Sam's Club.

I got some extra dumbell weights from a local junkyard at a tiny
fraction of their new cost. They had tons of abandoned gym equipment
lying around there, almost anything you wanted there'd be at least
half a dozen of, and at scrap metal prices. You could have equipped a
whole football team with dumb bells.

Walmart. They have 20LB ones for $29 a pair. You can also buy DB handles for
like $6. You can buy all the plates you want there as well. I made the 20LB
set into 50LB by buying plates.

Two places that are great to go and are cheaper than the retail stores are:
1. Pawn Shops
2. Used Sports Equipment stores such as a "Play it Again Sports"
