Post subject: Elliptical Trainers

I'm looking for a piece of equipment that offers minimal impact and so am
looking at Elliptical trainers.

There are so many varieties out there, what are some of the better
makes/models to select. I specifically would like one that

1. Is under a $1000
2. Provides a very high caloric burn in 30 minutes
3. Good construction and durable

I don't believe #2 is a selection criteria. All aerobic equipment are
capable of doing that, but it depends entirely on you. I suspect you
mean something else entirely -- perhaps something about the built-in
"programs".

Take a look at an index for Consumer Reports. They review ellipticals
from time to time, in more depth some times than others. I cannot
vouch for their ratings. But I think CR does a good job of laying out
a reasonable list of selection criteria.
