I have started to get pain in one elbow that's worst after working out, then
slowly improves after a few days then comes right back after a workout. I
do benches, preacher bench curls, dips,, flys etc. three times a week.
Reminds me of "tennis elbow" though I don't know exactly what that term
means. The preacher bench curls are most uncomfortable 'cause I'm laying
the elbow, right where the pain is, on the arm rest.

Is this a faily common thing? What's the best thing to do about it other
than quitting working our? I'm an old fart at 56, maybe it's age? Surprised)

The preacher bench curls have a reputation as an elbow wrecker. Drop it
immediately. I would also only train with a neoprene sleeve over the elbow
area. That is a start.

There you go.

Yes.

The best thing to do is take 1-2 weeks off then start back light and
slowly increase weight.

You don't mention any leg work, I assume you are doing some, but you
could keep that up in your elbow recovery time.

Loose preacher curls, If you have to curl do a standing E-Z bar curl.
Do pullups and/or rows and then maybe at the end of your workout do 1-2
sets of low rep/high weight curls (after your elbow is beter).

The other guys are right! It's the Preacher Curls. I had elbow pain
for about 18 months until someone suggested to stop the Preacher
Curls. After I stopped them, the pain has completely gone. It did take
6 months though.....

I think you are working out too often and possibly doing too many
isolation exercises, like curls, tricep extensions & flyes.

For starters drop the preacher curls and cut back to 2 upper body
workout a week. Add a lower body workout for the 3rd one.

Defo the preacher curl machine.
I was taking vast amounts of ibuprofen to get sleep and train because
of that shite machine. I never touch that machine now. I just stick to
dumbbells or belt pulley.
