No. The snapping occurs after the movement...sometimes for a day or
so.

There's nothing magical about any particular squat form or rep scheme.
Some of easier on most knees than others but anything you don't do
regularly can still cause pops, squeaks, grinds, etc., if you haven't
done it for a while. My knees make more noise on ATG narrow squats than
they do on wide ones - it just means I should be doing more of them or
other joint work to get the kinks out, e.g., when I used to ride a bike
a lot, my knees were better.

I would probably suggest a physio over the local doctor. Every doctor I have
ever seen about an injury tells me to rest and thats about it.

But I do front squat and 20 rep squats quite regularly. One or the
other anyway.

I've been lucky in years past in this regard: very good GP who referred
me on to a sports medicine specialist/rheumatologist that works with
professional athletes. I'm sure David Cohen could probably alter my
perceptions and inform me just how rare such a good combination is Smile

You've been lucky in this area of the medical world.

Doesn't quite make up for all the other stuff Sad
