Awl--

This is a machine I saw in a small Manhattan gym over 20 years ago--never
saw one before or since. Wondering if anyone knows anything about it ito
mfr, leads, etc.

Imagine a Smith machine w/ a bench underneath, but no linear bearings.
Instead, each end of the bar is connected to a selectorized weight stack,
via sprockets and cycle-type chain--so you have *two* selectorized wt
stacks. The chain is also routed in such a way as to eventually connect both
ends of the bar, thus stabilizing the bar, keeping it level, a la a Smith
machine.

A little bit of a "contraption", if memory serves, but spectacularly
crafted, similar in flavor to some of the old very fine Nautilus equipment,
but clearly a few cuts above, highly chromed, overall beautiful.

Any leads? Any opinions on the machine itself?
TIA.
