I've been lifting three times a week for about a year now, but I'm
having a tough time adding the bulk I want. In the first six months,
I managed to gain about 15 lbs, going from 145lbs to 160lbs,
maintaining a body-fat ratio of about 12%.
After that, I stopped gaining weight. I vary my workout, supplement
my diet with two MRPs (approx 350 calories each) a day (in addition to
3 meals). These work well for me because they provide additional
calories and protein that I find hard to eat.
Obviously, if I'm not growing any more, I've obviously found a plateau
where calories in = calories out. But I'm struggling to eat more than
I'm eating now, in terms of bulk, so I'm looking for ways to 'cheat'
calories into my diet. I'm hoping others here can suggest ways to add
500 calories a day into my diet without adding significant bulk to the
diet.
Oil seems one logical solution. Four tablespoons of olive oil a day
would do the trick, adding 480 calories. But how can I sneak this
into my diet? I can't really stomach the idea of gulping the oil
straight.
Any other suggestions for calorie-dense foods?

If you don't like the taste of olive oil, try some of the nut oils, sor
sesame seed oil, or grape-seed oil - just throw a tablespoonful into
each of your MRPs, you'll never even notice it's there.

An additional 500 calories isnt much - add a chicken breast and a baked
potato. But you might find a few other recipe ideas you can scale down

Make a salad dressing with it, or a few tsps on a baked potato. Add it
to one of your shakes. As someone else mentioned try other 'good fats'
too, do some research on it. Eat a handful of almonds and fattier fish
like salmon too. Check out Ms Kristas site - in the 'eating' section

You could cook with olive oil, that adds calories. Crete laborers used to

Butch up and down 3 or 4 table spoons of flax seed oil a day. The taste
is awful at first but it's a good source of the omegas. Besides once
you get used to it, it will go down so fast you wont even notice it, I
generally chase mine with a piece of cheese or something. I use

Firstly, the op asked for calorie rich foods, to which he then added
the caveat that he didn't like the taste of oils, I provided a remedy,
the cheese chaser  . Secondly my imagination is irrelevant, You
specificly said 'flax seed'. Third the fact that we cannot enlongate
the 18 carbon long linolenic acid from flax into the 20 or 22 carbon
long epa or dha, respectively, doesn't make flax seed oil a 'bad'
choice, it only means it's a less efficent choice with regard to the
omegas. Personally I think that some of the more anal retentive people
that read the group could do with a nice big helping of some flax seed

It is a good source, chances are he's getting very little to start
with, so even at an inefficient conversion rate some is better than
none. Besides, I like to wiggle, it's fun :p. So tell us op, how much
cold water fish do you eat weekly? 2 cans of sardines a day, I like
them in hot sauce, would fill your 480 calorie need, and your omegas to

Keep a small bowl of olive oil on the table and dip bread in it, instead
of buttering the bread. It's a bit of an acquired taste, but I've come
