I can't tell you if it's any good, but after reading all your replies i
thought i'd add a post to defend you!
Yes, a gym is definitely worth the money, but for me, being a
relatively new dad, I just can't get to the gym easily anymore. My
responsibilities as a dad means i have to come home after work. A
couple times a week i MUST come home after work because my wife works
those nights. So a gym just was impractical.
I considered a Bowflex, but after reading countless negative threads
about it here, i did end up getting a basic free weight setup... cage,
olympic bar w/ 300+ lbs in plates, dumbbells, bench, etc. It all cost
about the same as a Bowflex.
I live in a house so free weights are not an issue.
I did this almost 4 years ago, and i'm glad i did it. I still use my
basement gym regularly (5x per week). I lift alone, but i find the
motivation to do it even when i don't feel like it. I used to workout
immediately after work, while the kids were still napping. Their
napping has changed, so now i usually workout after 9:30pm. At first
it was a drag lifting so late, but now it feels normal.
So if you have it in you to workout at home, alone, go for it! As
you're in an apartment, freeweights are not an option. I'd think the
Bowflex is a good alternative, assuming you are dead set in not got
going to an actual gym.
If you get it, please post a message to tell us how you like it!
